CEYLON — The Ceylon City Council met on Tuesday evening. City Employee Nate Beckendorf said Jim Plumhoff's last day was Tuesday and that he had learned a lot from him. Paul Schoen from Sherburn is on call during the 30 days Plumhoff cannot work for the city. Beckendorf asked if he could have a temporary helper that lived in Ceylon so he could call on him in emergencies only. The council approved hiring a temporary employee. TRUMAN— The Truman City Council heard a number of updates on Tuesday dealing with economic development and public works. It also looked at the 2027 budget and levy. Amber Patten with Martin County Economic Development Authority had some information to share regarding the Jones development, which is four city-owned, shovel-ready residential lots on the Bau Court. SHERBURN — The Sherburn City Council met on Tuesday evening and Jordan Niles and Des Moines Valley Health and Human Services Representative Luke Ewald presented a report about the Rails to Trails project in Martin and Jackson counties. Jackson has many trail developments and two trails ready to go. They are discussing one trail to the Fort Belmont site.
