Big South Conference honors 5 Red Bulls
FAIRMONT – The Big South Conference has announced its All-Conference wrestling selections and the Martin County Area Red Bulls have five grapplers on the list.
Pierce Rohman earned his spot after becoming a champion at the conference tournament. Rohman also locked in a third-place finish at the State Individual Wrestling Tournament which earned him an All-State selection. The sophomore closed his season with 47 wins and only four losses.
Junior captain Torrey Paplow claimed a spot on the All-Big South team at 145 pounds. Paplow ended the season with a record of 46-7 and a 2-2 finish at the state tournament falling just short of medaling.
Maddex Faber earned a spot on the roster after a third-place finish at the conference tournament where he wrestled at 160 pounds. Faber also qualified for state and closed his season with a record of 43-9.
Wrestling at 160 pounds, senior Ty Kolbe received an at-large bid by the Big South Conference coaches after the captain put together an outstanding season which closed with a record of 26-7.
Kate Kolbe was selected for the All-Big South Conference for the girls after securing a third-place performance at the conference tournament and finishing third in the section.
