Cardinal Power secures 12U bronze at GFP Softball Classic

FAIRMONT – The Cardinal Power 12U GFP Softball Classic on Sunday came to a close at Winnebago Avenue Sports Complex, with the Cardinal Power 12U team finishing third.

After a first-round bye, the Cardinal Power moved on to the second round against North Union, with the Cardinal Power taking the win 8-1. That moved them on to face Austin Gold, who edged out the Cardinal Power by a score of 11-10.

After that 11-10 loss, the Cardinal Power dropped into the third-place game against the Boltz, who dropped to the third-place game earlier with an 11-5 loss to the Gamblers Blue.

The third-place game ended with the Cardinal Power securing the win 10-5 and taking third place in the bracket. They scored 10 runs off of nine hits and five walks, with RBIs from Kaylee K., Corinn W. and Aspen W. Pitcher Emery G. got the win in that game with four innings pitched, facing 20 batters and allowing five runs while picking up nine strikeouts. The game ended following the mercy rule, with the Cardinal Power being up by five runs after four innings.

The Gamblers Blue took the 12U crown out of the nine-team bracket, beating out Austin Gold 11-6.

The tourney started with North Union taking on Blue Earth Area and North Union securing a 16-4 win. In Game 2, Austin Gold beat Alden-Conger 10-1, while Game 3 saw the Gamblers Blue top Austin Blue 20-2. In Game 4, the Boltz secured a 10-9 win over Austin White Silver.

10U CONCLUDES SATURDAY

The Cardinal Power 10U-Terfehr team tied for third due to a rainout on Saturday in the 10U bracket of the Cardinal Power GFP Softball Classic at Cardinal Park.

The tourney started with the 10U bracket at 8 a.m. Saturday.

The Cardinal Power-Terfehr team had a first-round bye before taking its first game of the tourney by storm with an 8-1 victory over Blue Earth to move on and face Lake Crystal-Parsons. Cardinal Power-Terfehr fell to LC-P 8-1 before the rain flooded Cardinal Park and ended the tournament, with the exception of the championship game, which was moved to Winnebago Avenue Sports Complex.

The Cardinal Power-Carlson team dropped its first game 15-2 to USC-Wegner before falling to the Gamblers Blue 15-2. The Cardinal Power-Carlson team then fell to North Union by a score of 10-0.

The Blue Earth 10U team won its first-round game against North Union by a score of 9-6. After a loss to Cardinal Power-Terfehr, Blue Earth fell to Gamblers Blue 15-7.

Lake Crystal-Parsons was crowned the champions of the 10U bracket after a 7-0 win over Medford Black.
