NORTH MANKATO — The first round of the Section 2A Golf Tournament at North Links Golf Course saw two Martin County West golfers qualify for Monday’s final round.

The final round takes place at 9 a.m. Monday at North Links Golf Course.

Qualifying standards to get to that final day of the section tournament include the top four teams, the next best five individuals not on those teams and those within five strokes of the fifth-best individual not on an advancing team.

The Martin County West boys took eighth with a 361.

Despite the finish as a team, MCW senior Hunter Schmidt had the top round of all golfers, finishing six strokes ahead of second place. Schmidt carded a 70 to medal and advance to Monday with the top score. Schmidt had three birdies and shot for par on 14 holes.

Also advancing to Monday with Schmidt was junior teammate Kale Larson, who shot a 90 to take 28th.
