FAIRMONT — New Ulm shut out Fairmont 13-0 in five innings of a Big South Conference softball game on Tuesday.

Fairmont got a single each from Brylee Miller and Ava Terfehr in the loss.

Nevaeh Rahm pitched 3 1/3 innings in the loss, allowing six earned runs on six hits and four walks while striking out five. Miller pitched the final 1 2/3 innings, allowing one unearned run on a hit while striking out one.

Ramsey Hopp got the win for New Ulm in three innings, striking out seven while allowing two hits and a walk.

Hopp was also 1 for 1 with a double, two walks and an RBI, while Kenzie Enter was 1 for 2 with a triple, an RBI, three runs scored and two stolen bases. New Ulm improved to 2-0 on the season with the win.

Fairmont (1-2) travels to Blue Earth for a 5:30 p.m. game on Thursday.
