FAIRMONT — Fairmont defeated Worthington 6-1 in a Big South Conference prep tennis meet Monday at Fairmont High School.

Winning for Fairmont were No. 2 singles Tyler Slama (6-0, 6-3), No. 3 singles Sebastian Castro (6-2, 6-2) and No. 4 singles Wylee Frederickson (6-0, 6-0). Fairmont swept the doubles, with No. 1 Carter Quist and Anthony Stegge winning 6-0, 6-1, No. 2 doubles Oliver Thedens and Simoni Casbro winning 6-2, 6-2, and No. 3 doubles Lilly Ortega and Zach Ashland winning 6-4, 2-6. 10-8.

Fairmont hosts Southwest Christian in a 4:30 p.m. meeting on Thursday.

FAIRMONT — Luverne took down Fairmont 4-2 in a nonconference baseball game Monday.

Jensen Livesay took the loss for Fairmont, striking out eight while allowing four hits and two earned runs. Levi Pooley, Trevor Maakestad and Josh Soelter each had a hit for Fairmont, with Maakestad and Merritt Pomerenke getting an RBI apiece.
