Grathwohl tallies 5 TDs, tops Jaguars’ rout of Blackhawks
GRANADA — Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman running back Hunter Grathwohl and the Jaguars erupted for a staggering 49 points during the opening quarter to pace a 61-8 landslide victory over the Madelia Blackhawks during regular-season football finale action Wednesday night in Granada.
Grathwohl, who generated a total of five touchdowns during a 42-8 rout over Sebeka on Oct. 6, scored four of his game-leading five TDs during the initial 12 minutes. Grathwohl, who finished the contest by amassing 166 yards on only nine carries, triggered the offensive avalanche by breaking free for a 16-yard scoring run. Luke Kester ran for the two-point conversion for a quick 8-0 lead.
Grathwohl then produced back-to-back scores on runs of 5 and 12 yards, respectively. Eli Jensen kicked the PAT following his second TD, while Kester sprinted across the goal line on another two-pointer on the heels of his third score.
Carter Brudelie reached the end zone on a 1-yard run for the Jaguars before Grathwohl delivered another six points on the strength of a 38-yard run. Jensen kicked the PAT to extend the Jaguars’ lead to 36-0.
Cohl Becker contributed a 1-yard TD rush, with Jensen kicking the PAT throught the uprights. Braeden Shell capped the purple-and-white point production during the first quarter by catching a 23-yard scoring strike from quarterback Jackson Madsen.
Grathwohl added a 46-yard TD run during the third quarter before Carter Langford snared a 26-yard scoring spiral from Reagan Emmert in the final frame.
Keagan Berhow recovered a pair of fumbles and notched 6.5 stops for the Jaguars, while Brudelie supplied one interception, one fumble recovery and 6.5 tackles.
Kaydon Barglof chipped in 5.5 tackles for the Jaguars, while Grathwohl made five more stops.
Madsen completed 6 of 8 passes for 79 yards and one score to complement 59 yards on 10 carries, while Kester made three receptions for 58 yards.
GHEC/Truman (5-3) travels to Alden for a 7 p.m. Section 3, Nine-Player quarterfinal playoff game against Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons.
