Lofstrom tops North Union’s win over Belmond-Klemme

BELMOND, Iowa — Aiden Lofstrom topped a balanced scoring attack as the North Union Warriors corraled the Belmond-Klemme Broncos, 67-34, during Iowa prep basketball action Tuesday night in Belmond, Iowa.

Lofstrom netted a game-best 15 points and pocketed three steals for the Warriors, who led the Broncos 27-17 at halftime before outscoring the home team by a 40-17 second-half margin.

Kody Irmiter generated 12 points and pulled down five rebounds for North Union, while teammate Preston Guerdet contributed 11 points to the winning cause.

Teagon Fothergill produced 10 points and garnered three steals for the Warriors, Danyal Fothergill supplied seven points and doled out five assists, while Kyan Jones distributed a game-high 11 assists to complement scoring six points.

The Warriors scorched the Belmond gymnasium nets by hitting 25 of 37 shots from 2-point range for 67.6 percent.

North Union also connected on 4 of 16 attempts from behind the 3-point arc and 5 of 10 at the free throw line.

North Union (11-6) plays host to Bishop Garrigan (8-8) of Algona at 7:30 p.m. Friday night in Armstrong.
