Fairmont players earn baseball honors

FAIRMONT — Senior third baseman Eli Anderson, senior catcher Zach Jorgensen and senior pitcher Jacob Crissinger represented the Class AA state baseball champion Fairmont Cardinals on three different postseason honorary teams in 2022.

Anderson, Jorgensen and Crissinger — who all pitched complete games during the three-game span at Dick Putz Field in St. Cloud and Target Field in Minneapolis — each earned selection to the Class AA all-state tournament team for their performances.

The Cardinals’ talented trio also were named to the all-Section 3 tournament squad and were first-team all-Big South Conference choices for their efforts on the prep diamond.

Junior first baseman Jack Kosbab merited selection to both the Class AA all-state tournament team and first-team all-Big South squads, while sophomore shortstop Nate Soelter netted spots on both the first-team all-BSC and all-section tournament lineups.

Senior centerfielder Gavin Rodning was tabbed all-conference honorable mention and garnered an all-Section 3 tournament bid, junior outfielder Landen Meyerdirk pocketed an all-BSC selection, while junior second baseman Lincoln Becker was tabbed honorable mention all-conference.

Fairmont closed out the school’s first-ever state baseball championship season with a 27-3 overall record.
