7th-, 8th-grade basketball splits 2 games
FAIRMONT — The Fairmont Cardinal seventh- and eighth-grade girls basketball teams netted a split decision against New Ulm on Tuesday in New Ulm.
Makayla Lowry scored eight points as Fairmont captured the eighth-grade game, 38-28.
Makenzie Lowry and Audrina Suckow each netted seven points for Fairmont (5-1), which plays St. James Area at 5:30 p.m. next Tuesday in Butterfield.
New Ulm defeated Fairmont in the seventh-grade contest, 33-21.
Emelia Klanderud tallied 13 points to top the Cardinals’ effort, while teammate Abbie Simpson tossed in four.
Fairmont (3-2) plays at St. Paul’s Lutheran in Fairmont at 4:30 p.m. today.
