Kuemper Catholic volleyball sweeps North Union in regional

CARROLL, Iowa — Kenzie Schon hammered a match-best 15 kills and went 15 of 15 at the service line to help power the Kuemper Catholic Knights to a three-game sweep over the North Union Warriors during Iowa playoff volleyball action Wednesday night.

Kuemper Catholic posted consecutive game wins of 25-14, 25-17, 25-18, to eliminate North Union during Class 2A, Region 5 quarterfinal action in Carroll, Iowa.

The Warriors ended the season with a 14-11 record.

Kuemper Catholic (25-10) advances to face South Central Calhoun (22-17) in a 7 p.m. regional semifinal Monday night in Carroll, Iowa.

Ashlyn Badding distributed a match-best 41 set assists for the Knights, while Sophie Badding and Frannie Glynn added balance to the hitting attack. Sophie Badding smacked 10 kills and recorded three blocks, while Glynn drilled nine kills.

Kenya Prescott made five digs and served 18 of 19 for the Knights, while Macy Simons went 12 of 13 at the line.

Lily Henderson doled out 12 set assists, made 10 digs and served 10 of 11 to pace North Union’s effort.

Anna Longhenry pounded out 13 kills and was perfect on eight serves for the Warriors, while Olivia Von Bank contributed four kills, six digs and a 9-for-9 serving performance.

Ella Ulrich made six digs and served 8 of 10 for North Union, while Libby Stevens distributed eight set assists.
