Schultz, Mosloski pound Cardinals to volleyball sweep over Jaguars

TRUMAN — Cassidy Schultz and Brittney Mosloski combined for 29 kills and eight blocks to power the Fairmont Cardinals to a 25-14, 25-22, 25-16 sweep over the Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman Jaguars in nonconference regular-season volleyball action Tuesday night.

Schultz hammered 15 kills, blocked five spikes and made 11 digs, while Mosloski collected 14 kills, three blocks and went 12 of 13 serving.

Vanessa Bliesmer contributed four aces behind 17-for-18 serving to complement three kills for the Cardinals, while Olivia Ortega supplied 12 digs.

Kynlie Anderson doled out 22 set assists and served 16 of 16 for Fairmont, while Grace Pendergast distributed 16 set assists and tallied two aces on 9 of 11 serving.

Ella Nagorske dished out five set assists and scored two aces on 8 of 8 serving for the Jaguars, while Mallery Geistfeld smacked four kills.

Johnnie Zaharia made 11 digs, Katelyn Diegnau and Josie Clow each supplied three kills, while Kambria Steinhaus served 16 of 16 to go with eight digs for the Jaguars.

Fairmont (9-14) awaits the Section 3AA pairings for the playoffs, while the Jaguars (7-18) await the Section 2A postseason matchups.

The Jaguars outlasted the Cardinals in B-squad action, 21-25, 25-17, 15-12, Tuesday in Truman.

Gabby Leiding doled out seven set assists, made eight digs and served 8 of 8, while Mariah Moeller scooped up 14 digs. Brylee Miller collected three kills and five set assists to go with 9 of 10 serving for Fairmont.

The Jaguars downed the Cardinals, 25-21, 25-21, during C-squad action Tuesday.

Haleigh Grotzinger served three aces for Fairmont, Meredith Nemmers drilled three kills, Madison Landin tallied 15 passes, while Ellie Ortega had eight passes.

Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial 3, Blue Earth Area 1 — The Knights defeated the Bucs by respective scores of 25-14, 23-25, 25-18, 25-13, Tuesday night in Blue Earth.

Liz Beeler made 12 digs, dished out eight set assists and scored seven points on 11 of 13 serving for BEA, while Eloise Blair made 18 digs.

Brita Hougen smacked six kills and went 11 of 11 serving for five points for the Bucs, while Haley Kalis doled out 11 set assists.

Kate Armon made 13 digs, Taylor Klabunde served 13 of 13 for five points, Alicia Machacek hammered eight kills, while Hailey Becker supplied five kills and served 10 of 11.

Blue Earth Area awaits the Section 2AA playoff pairings.
