Fairmont falls in B, C volleyball matches

FAIRMONT — St. Peter defeated Fairmont in both the B-squad and C-squad volleyball matches on Tuesday night in St. Peter.

St. Peter posted back-to-back 25-18 wins over Fairmont in B-squad play.

Brylee Miller served 8 of 9 and drilled three kills for the Cardinals, while Mariah Moeller made nine digs.

The Saints netted a 26-24, 25-18 victory over the Cardinals in C-squad action.

Haleigh Grotzinger served three aces and made five passes for Fairmont, while Saige Leiding dished four set assists and served two aces.

Ellie Ortega tallied three kills for Fairmont, while Ava Rodning doled out three assists.

JV football loses contest to TCU

FAIRMONT — Tri-City United posted an 18-6 triumph over Fairmont during junior varsity football action on Monday night.

Blaze Geiger reached the end zone for the Cardinals’ only touchdown via the run.

Mathew Cone and Taylor Austin helped pace Fairmont’s defensive effort by recording one interception apiece.

Cole Weimers notched 10 tackles to top the Cardinals’ statistical charts, while teammate Landen Meyerdirk contributed seven stops to the performance.
