Blair helps steer B.E. Area volleyball to win over Fairmont

BLUE EARTH — Eloise Blair jackhammered a team-best 16 kills, made 14 digs and generated eight points on 12-for-14 serving to play a key role in the Blue Earth Area Bucs’ 22-25, 29-27, 25-9, 25-16 victory over the Fairmont Cardinals during Big South volleyball Tuesday night in Blue Earth.

Liz Beeler distributed 21 set assists, made eight digs and went 20 of 21 serving for 13 points for the Bucs, while Taylor Klabunde generated a match-best 15 points, including a pair of aces, on 24 of 25 serving to complement eight digs.

Haley Kalis doled out 12 set assists, made nine digs and went 13 of 15 serving for six points for BEA, while Alicia Machacek and Maci Frommie pounded out seven kills each.

Kate Armon made 12 digs, while Hailey Becker produced six points on 13-for-15 serving for BEA.

Cassidy Schultz cranked a match-leading 18 kills and scooped up 11 digs to top Fairmont, while Brittney Mosloski collected five kills, 10 digs and served 13 of 14.

Olivia Ortega generated 10 digs and went 7 of 8 serving for the Cardinals, Emily Frank put down five kills, while Vanessa Bliesmer smacked four kills and made five digs.

Kynlie Anderson doled out 22 set assists, connected on 20 of 21 serves and chalked up seven digs for Fairmont, while Grace Pendergast chipped in 14 set assists and nine digs.

Fairmont (2-6-1) plays host to Worthington on Thursday night, while Blue Earth Area (1-8) is idle until next Tuesday night when it travels to St. James.

North Union 3, Bishop Garrigan 2 — Lily Henderson distributed 16 set assists, garnered 17 digs and served three aces behind a 15-for-16 effort to help the Warriors topple the Golden Bears, 25-17, 25-22, 15-25, 18-25, 15-13, during Iowa prep action Tuesday night in Armstrong.

Anna Longhenry pounded out a team-leading 22 kills, went 21 of 21 serving and supplied nine digs for North Union, while Olivia Von Bank drilled nine kills and produced a team-high four aces on 23-for-23 serving.

Ella Ulrich went 18 of 18 serving and made 11 digs for the Warriors, Libby Stevens doled out 13 set assists and made eight digs, while Emily Meyer contributed three aces on 10-for-10 serving to go with eight digs.

North Union (8-5) travels to Forest City on Monday night.

Martin County West 3, Martin Luther/GHEC/Truman 2 — The Mavericks fended off the Jaguars, 21-25, 25-19, 17-25, 25-22, 15-8, in a five-game Valley Conference clash on Tuesday night in Trimont.

Mallery Geistfeld went 17 of 18 serving, smacked six kills and tallied three blocks for the Jaguars, while Josie Clow collected six kills and three blocks.

Ella Nagorske distributed 13 set assists for the Jaguars, who travel to Mankato Loyola on Thursday night.

No individual or team statistics were reported by Martin County West, which plays host to Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial on Thursday night in Trimont.
