Gudahl guides BEA golfers to quad victory; Fairmont places 3rd

ELMORE — Blue Earth Area golfer Braden Gudahl and his Buc teammates continued their low-scoring ways during Saturday’s boys quadrangular, breezing to the team crown by 27 shots at Minn-Iowa Golf Course in Elmore.

Gudahl carded an even-par 18-hole total of 72 to garner meet medalist honors in pacing Blue Earth Area’s winning team total of 313.

United South Central netted runner-up team accolades with a 340, Fairmont claimed third at 342, while Albert Lea finished fourth with 346.

Gudahl fired a 1-over 37 on the front side of Minn-Iowa before closing with a 1-under back nine-hole score of 35. The left-hander generated five birdies — Nos. 6, 9, 12, 15 and 17 — to complement eight pars on the day.

Ashton Lloyd finished just three shots off Gudahl’s first-place pace to pocket runner-up medalist honors with a 40-35-75 for Blue Earth Area. Lloyd delivered birdies on Nos. 6 and 15 to go along with a team-best 12 pars.

Manning Lane and Max Ehrich each posted rounds of 83 to complete the Bucs’ counting scores on the quadrangular. Lane produced a 40-43 on the strength of 10 pars, while Ehrich sank a birdie on No. 18 to complement eight pars to pencil in a 45-38.

Gavin Storbeck and Nathan Murphy rounded out Blue Earth Area’s winning ways by generating respective rounds of 40-46-86 and 43-45-88. Storbeck connected for a birdie on No. 6 to go with six pars, while Murphy netted seven pars to highlight his round.

Alexander Moeller topped Fairmont’s performance again by earning a share of fourth place individually via an 18-hole mark of 42-38-80. Moeller made birdies on Nos. 6 and 10 to complement a team-leading nine pars.

Brock Lutterman collected the final spot in the top 10 individual standings by firing a 45-40-85 for the Cardinals. Lutterman connected for a birdie on No. 15 and sank six pars to highlight Fairmont’s second-best total on the quad.

Hartley Aust, Mathew Cone and Jacob Harris completed the Cardinals’ counting scores, with Cone and Harris shooting matching totals. Aust penciled in a 46-42-88, including six pars, while Cone and Harris each tallied 89s. Cone made five pars to trigger a 45-44, while Harris knocked down four pars en route to a 46-43.

Alec Reutzel rounded out Fairmont’s effort with a score of 47-46-93. Reutzel connected for a birdie on No. 15, while adding three pars to pace his 18-hole round.

Tucker McKinney fired a 76 to place third to top Albert Lea, while Kadyn Neubauer netted an 80 to share fourth place overall with Moeller in pacing USC’s effort.

Fairmont and Blue Earth Area compete against Jackson County Central, New Ulm, Waseca and host St. Peter in a Big South Conference division event at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, at Shoreland Country Club.
