Blackhawks 2nd, Jaguars 3rd at golf triangular
MADELIA — Teien Murphy fired a nine-hole medalist round of 41 to guide the Maple River Eagles to first-place honors during Thursday’s Valley Conference boys golf triangular in Madelia.
Maple River captured first-place team accolades with a 189, the host Blackhawks netted runner-up honors at 194, while the Granada-Huntley-East Chain/ Truman/Martin Luther Jaguars claimed third with a 231.
Colin Wihlm connected for a runner-up total of 43, including five pars, to pace the Blackhawks’ effort, while teammate Colby Wihlm notched one par on the way to a total of 46.
Luke Stensrud carded a round of 52 for Madelia, while Noah Tierney recorded the final counting score for the home team with a 53.
Collin Tierney added a mark of 63 for Madelia.
Louis Bowers led the Jaguars with three pars to build a score of 47, while Wyatt Luhman notched a 59.
Zach Flohrs connected for a nine-hole score of 62 and Jakob Fischer had the final Jaguar counting score of 63.
Colby Brudelie added a 70 for the Jaguars, while Tyson Kube penciled in a round of 74.
Both the Madelia and the Jaguar boys teams travel to Janesville today for a 1 p.m. tournament action.
