Warrior boys fifth at relays
GARNER — The North Union Warriors finished fifth as a team with 75 points at the 2021 Cardinal Relays on Tuesday in Garner, Iowa.
Bryer Prochniak earned second place in both the 100-meter dash (11.2) and the 200-meter dash (23.22) for the Warriors, while Aiden Fries claimed fourth in the 200 with a time of 24.69.
Preston Guerdet took fifth for the Warriors in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:15.62, while Nick Schiltz ran a time of 11:10.02 in the 3,200-meter run for fourth.
Carter Anderson (16.26) and Carter Morphew (16.56) took second and fifth, respectively, in the 110-meter high hurdles.
The Warriors’ 4×100-meter relay crew of Izaak Martens, Fries, Carter Morphew and Prochniak claimed gold in 46.56, while the 4×200-meter team of Martnes, Aric Arndorfer, Collin Rasch and Shawn Odegaard claimed eighth in 1:49.03.
Martens, Carter Morphew, Prochniak and Fries teamed up for a third-place finish in the 800-meter sprint medley with a time of 1:42.66, while the Warriors’ 4×400-meter relay crew of Anderson, Guerdet, Kaden Laabs and Liam Kollasch took 10th in 4:10.34.
Anderson, Carter Morphew, Fries and Guerdet ran a time of 4:01.18 for second in the distance medley, while Anderson added a second-place finish in the high jump when he cleared the bar at 5-8.
North Union plays host to seven schools for a 4:30 p.m. meet Thursday in Armstrong, Iowa.
