Totzke, Haugen, Senf guide Fairmont golfers to invitational crown

WORTHINGTON — Three Fairmont girls golfers broke the century mark to earn top 10 individual accolades to power the Cardinals to the season-opening Worthington Invitational’s team championship on Saturday.

Junior Maggy Totzke penciled in an 18-hole total of 93 to capture fourth place overall to help pace Fairmont’s winning team score of 391 — two strokes better than Lac qui Parle Valley’s runner-up total of 393.

Sophomore Anika Haugen finished only two shots off of Totzke’s team-leading pace for a round of 95 to garner fifth-place honors overall for the Cardinals.

Sophomore Solveig Senf covered the 18-hole course in 99 shots to pocket eighth place overall to pack scoring punch to Fairmont’s winning team effort.

Brynn Gustafson fired a total of 104 to round out the Cardinals’ counting scores on the eight-team competition. Bailey Martinson contributed a round of 110 for Fairmont, while Lauren Davis finished with a 122.

Lac qui Parle Valley junior Sarah Halvorson carded a 10-over par total of 80 to win the individual championship, while sophomore teammate Isabella Jacobs shot an 87 to net runner-up honors.

Josi Altman penciled in a 92 to place third overall for third-place Adrian, while Regan Farmer tied for sixth with a 98 to pace Jackson County Central’s sixth-place 468.

Fairmont plays host to Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Interlaken Golf Course.
