JACKSON — Martin County Area senior gymnast Sabrina Segar qualified for one final Class A state meet.

Segar and champion Hali Bullerman of Worthington captured the two state-qualifying all-around bids during Saturday’s Section 3 Meet.

Bullerman generated a first-place total of 36.4 to help the Trojans defend their team championship against Segar and the runner-up Magic, 143.05-133.15.

Worthington’s team, along with Segar, Bullerman and the top three finishers — minus those top two all-arounders — on the vault, unevens, beam and floor will compete together in the halved Class A state meet at 6 p.m. Friday at Champlin Park High School. Section 3’s team champion and individual qualifiers will compete directly against Sections 1, 2 and 8.

Sections 4, 5, 6 and 7 of Class A will compete at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Champlin Park High School.

Segar produced a second-place all-around total of 36.1, highlighted by a first-place performance of 9.525 on the floor exercise.

Segar also garnered the bronze medal on the vault with a 9.25, placed third on the balance beam with a 9.1 and pocketed fifth place on the uneven parallel bars at 8.225.

Bullerman posted an 8.975 to edge Redwood Valley’s Avery Wilson for top honors on the unevens, while Worthington teammates Gracia Elias and Mekyla Nystrom struck gold on the other two sectional events.

Elias, who netted third in the all-around competition with a 35.875, squeezed by Trojan teammate Abby Bristow for first place on the beam — 9.275-9.225. Nystrom, who finished fourth overall at 35.65, won the vault at 9.4.

Ellie Hernes placed 11th (32.025), Hailee Schuett took 12th (31.725) and Anna Utermarck claimed 13th (31.175) in the sectional all-around for MCA, which competed with second-leading scorer Anna Bachenberg. Bachenberg missed the meet due to an injury.
