MONTGOMERY — The Class AA No. 3-ranked Martin County Red Bulls generated five falls to help engineer a 45-26 non-league dual-meet wrestling victory over the Tri-City United Titans on Saturday in Montgomery.

With Martin County trailing 10-0 heading into the 120-pound match, newly No. 9-ranked Jesse Potts recorded the quickest pin of the competition to reduce the Red Bulls’ deficit to only four points on the scoreboard. Potts pressed Gavin Sherman’s shoulders to the canvas in a mere 59 seconds.

No. 1-ranked 126-pounder Jaxson Rohman then made short work of Zach Balma on the strength of a fall in only 1:27 to swing a 12-10 lead to Martin County.

No. 8-ranked 132-pounder Kain Sanders continued the Red Bulls’ winning ways by earning the slap of the canvas over Brant Lemieux in 5:09 to create an 18-10 advantage.

Aden Welcome outdueled Cole Franek during 138-pound action by a 5-2 decision before Red Bulls teammate Lucas Jagodzinske posted a pivotal major decision over a state-ranked opponent during 145-pound action.

Lucas Jagodzinske, who holds the No. 3 spot at 138 pounds, coasted to a 13-2 major decision over No. 8-ranked 145-pounder Caleb Whipps to extend Martin County’s margin to 25-10.

No. 2-ranked 145-pounder Connor Simmonds bumped up to 152 to earn a fall in 1:49 over TCU’s Carter O’Malley before the Titans’ Caden O’Malley countered for the home team. Caden O’Malley pinned Carver Rohman in 4:34 during 160-pound action.

No. 4-ranked 160-pounder Blake Jagodzinske moved up to 170 and posted a 7-3 decision over Marco Reyes to more than double the Red Bulls’ team margin to 34-16.

No. 5-ranked 182-pounder Brody Rud countered for TCU by netting a 12-4 major decision over Gage Cyphers before Martin County’s Max Olson reversed the scoring trend by flattening Tegan Determan via a technical fall in 4:37 at 195.

No. 4-ranked 220-pounder Riley O’Malley of the Titans received a forfeit from the Red Bulls before Martin County heavyweight Alec Thompson needed just 1 minute flat to earn a fall over Robert Bastyr.

The Red Bulls (16-1) travel to New Ulm Public High School on Tuesday to square off against the host Eagles and nonconference opponent Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial Area in a 5 p.m. triangular.
