BLUE EARTH — Martin County Area senior standout Sabrina Segar and her Magic gymnastics teammates literally beamed by the Blue Earth Area Bucs during Thursday night’s Big South Conference dual meet in Blue Earth.

Segar produced one of her four individual first-place showings by hitting her balance beam routine for a top score of 9.525 to guide Martin County Area to a 132.55-125.575 triumph over Blue Earth Area.

Segar captured first-place accolades in the all-around competition by amassing 35.375 points to fend off Magic teammate Hailee Schuett and the Bucs’ Hayley Kalis, who both generated runner-up totals of 32.125.

Addison Armstrong placed third in the overall competition by scoring 32.1 points for Blue Earth Area, while Anna Bachenberg finished fourth in the closely-contested all-around with a 32.075 for MCA.

The Magic utilized a 33.425-27.35 scoring advantage on the 4-inch-wide beam to create distance on the Bucs in the scoring column.

Ellie Schultze collected runner-up honors behind Segar on the balance beam by netting an 8.05 on the judges’ scorecards, while Schuett delivered a third-place showing with a 7.95. Anna Utermarck wrapped up fourth place for the Magic by tallying a 7.9.

Segar, Hannah Linse and Bachenberg also produced a 1-2-3 finish for Martin County Area on the vault. Segar rotated her Tsuk for a winning mark of 9.35, Linse tallied a runner-up total of 9.0, while Bachenberg pocketed third with an 8.95. Kalis rounded out the top four on the vault for BEA with an 8.825.

Armstrong, Kalis and Tailor Douglas answered with a 1-2-3 showing for the Bucs on the uneven parallel bars. Armstrong took top honors with a 7.85, while Kalis and Douglas followed in the scoring column with a 7.6 and a 7.325, respectively. Bachenberg prevented a sweep by finishing fourth with a 7.275 for the Magic.

Segar and Schuett then paced MCA’s 34.75-33.925 edge over BEA on the floor exercise. Segar captured first place with a 9.35-scored routine, while Schuett placed third with an 8.575.

Kalis and Armstrong collected second- and fourth-place accolades by scoring an 8.7 and an 8.55, respectively, for the Bucs.

Martin County Area (2-1) plays host to Waseca at 7 p.m. next Thursday night at Live Fit in Fairmont, while Blue Earth Area plays host to St. James Area on Monday night.
