Fairmont volleyball falls to Pipestone; Jaguars post win

PIPESTONE — The Pipestone Area Arrows posted a 25-6, 25-20, 25-10 shutout over the Fairmont Cardinals during Friday’s season-ending Big South Conference cross-over match in Pipestone.

Brittney Mosloski delivered eight kills and connected for one ace behind 7-for-8 serving for Fairmont, while Cassidy Schultz supplied four kills.

Sabrina Segar distributed nine set assists, went 8-for-8 serving and made seven digs for the Cardinals, while Kaitlyn Scott doled out six assists and tallied three digs.

Madysen Allen completed 10 of 10 serves and scooped up six spikes for Fairmont, Bryn Miller and Natalie Tonne each delivered two kills, while Maddy Schwieger and Jaya Johnson each went 4-for-4 serving.

Fairmont ended its coronavirus-condensed season with a 1-8 overall record.

Fairmont coasted to a three-game sweep over Pipestone Area during season-ending C-squad action Friday night in Pipestone.

Nevaeh Rahm produced nine kills, six digs, six service aces and two solo blocks to pace the Cardinals’ winning ways.

Grace Pendergast distributed 14 set assists for Fairmont, while Mireya Schmidt and Alexa Bush served up four aces apiece.

Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman 3, St. Clair 1 — Middle hitter Michaelah Petrowiak powered the Jaguars to a 3-1 Valley Conference victory over the Cyclones during a season-ending, rescheduled volleyball match on Friday night in St. Clair.

Petrowiak produced a match-best 19 kills and five ace blocks to pace the Jaguars’ respective 25-19, 25-18, 24-26, 25-21 triumph over the Cyclones.

Ella Nagorske distributed a match-high 30 set assists in putting the Jaguars’ offense in motion to complement a dozen digs from a defensive standpoint.

Katelyn Diegnau drilled seven kills for the Jaguars, teammate Mallery Geistfeld contributed five ace blocks to the visiting lineup’s victorious performance, while Kambria Steinhaus supplied 13 digs from a defensive perspective.

The Jaguars close out the coronavirus-condensed campaign with a 2-9 overall record.
