REMAX PeeWees place 4th at tournament

FAIRMONT — The REMAX PeeWee hockey team of Fairmont claimed fourth place during the Little Falls Youth Hockey tournament last weekend in Little Falls.

Klay Beemer netted the game-winning goal with 7.6 seconds remaining in regulation to help REMAX edge Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato, 7-6, in first-round action last Friday night.

Beemer finished with four goals, Gavin Kester netted two goals, while Eric Determan added a solo goal.

Tyler Kurt and Kegan Roloff distributed one assist apiece, while REMAX goaltender Tanner Pankow recorded 19 saves to net the win.

Duluth Denfield defeated REMAX 8-3 during Saturday’s semifinal clash.

Beemer converted Kester’s assist into the Fairmont-based team’s initial goal, Kester tallied an unassisted goal, while Kurt scored off a Beemer helper. Pankow notched 13 saves between the pipes.

Little Falls then edged REMAX, 3-2, to claim the third-place game on Sunday.

Determan scored off a Beemer assist, while Kurt chipped in an unassisted goal. Netminder Barret Scholl made 14 stops.

The REMAX PeeWees are scheduled to play in the Pond Hockey Tournament on Friday through Sunday in Fairmont.

Squirts ‘B’

The Connie Krahmer-sponsored Fairmont Squirt ‘B’ Red hockey team posted two wins and a loss during last weekend’s ice action.

Hunter Thate and Collin Kain each netted two goals to power Fairmont Red to a 6-5 win over Mankato White last Friday.

Preston Cepress collected one goal and two assists in the victory, while Hunter Olson and Lucas Kotewa each tallied one goal. Goalie Ian Obernolte made 11 saves in the win.

Luverne defeated Fairmont Red, 9-3, last Saturday.

Axel Chapman produced two goals, Thate scored once, while Hunter Olson, Wesley Topitzhofer and Tyler Pankow doled out one assist apiece. Obernolte chalked up 14 saves.

Hunter Olson collected two goals and one assist, while Chapman found the back of the cage twice to help power Fairmont’s 6-5 win over the Boji Blizzard on Sunday.

Thate and Pankow chipped in one goal each, while Kaden Olson and Kain each dished out two assists. Preston Geerdes, Topitzhofer and Kollin Brennen each added an assist, while Obernolte turned away 11 shots on goal.

The Connie Krahmer-sponsored Fairmont Squirt ‘B’ White squad pocketed a tie and a win last weekend.

Cepress unleashed four goals and two assists to help Fairmont salvage a 7-all tie with Luverne last Saturday.

Noah Meixell delivered a pair of goals and a playmaker with three assists, Hunter Olson chipped in a goal, while goaltender Josh Newville made 16 saves.

Meixell then erupted for five goals and one helper, while Cepress unleashed five goals and two assists to power Fairmont White to a 14-5 rout over Marshall last Saturday.

Hunter Olson and Thate each supplied one goal and two assists, Geerdes and Caden Wickert each scored one goal, while Bryce Ihrke and Pankow added one assist each.

Obernolte made 11 saves for Fairmont White, which is scheduled to compete in Fairmont’s Pond Hockey tournament Friday through Sunday.

10U Girls

The Car Parts Direct 10U girls hockey team of Fairmont compiled a 1-2-1 record to place fourth at the Albert Lea tournament last weekend.

Lauren Bettin produced a hat trick, Joselyn Meyer added a goal and Avert Kurt netted an assist to pace a 4-3 first-round win over New Prague last Friday night.

Fairmont netminder Lexi Sundeen made 15 saves to earn the win.

Andover then posted a 4-1 second-round win over Car Parts Direct on Saturday.

Kennedy Murphy scored Fairmont’s lone goal, while Sundeen turned away 22 Andover shots on net.

Lexi Haycraft’s hat trick helped Fairmont salvage a 4-all tie with Tartan on Saturday. Meyer added a goal to complement an assist, while Lauren Bettin and Evie Folkerts doled out helpers.

Car Parts Direct goalie Kynlee Beemer tallied 17 shots on goal.

Chisago Lakes then eked out a 3-2 win over Fairmont in the third-place game on Sunday.

Bettin and Francesca Martin delivered goals, while Sundeen recorded 17 saves.

The Car Parts Direct team competes in the Rochester tournament next Friday through Sunday.

12U Girls

The Wyffels Hybrids 12U girls hockey team of Fairmont netted a tie and lost three games during the Albert Lea tournament last Friday through Sunday.

Madison Sokoloski’s unassisted goal helped Fairmont salvage a 5-all tie with host Albert Lea in last Friday night’s first-rounder.

Maia Goerndt produced a hat trick for Wyffels Hybrids, Jadyn Musser added a goal, Abi Sundeen doled out two assists, while Harper Artz and Brooklyn Murphy dished out one assist apiece.

Netminder Ilana Moeller made 45 saves for Fairmont, which had just 14 shots on goal.

Rochester zipped Fairmont in second-round action, 7-0, Saturday.

Moeller amassed an incredible 53 saves for Wyffels, which had only seven shots goal.

Omaha (Neb.) then posted a 4-1 third-round victory over Fairmont on Saturday. Moeller turned away 30 shots for Wyffels, while Sundeen scored an unassisted goal.

Northfield edged Fairmont in the third-place game, 6-4, Sunday.

Goerndt delivered one goal and an assist, Sundeen, Murphy and Musser added one goal each, while Keara Flanagan chipped in a helper.

Moeller turned away 17 shots for Fairmont, which competes in the Rochester tournament Friday, Jan. 24, through Sunday, Jan. 26.
