Fairmont Area girls and boys hockey earn doubleheader sweep
MORRIS — The Fairmont Area boys hockey team took a 6-3 win over Morris/Benson Area on Saturday in Morris.
Hudson Artz recorded a hat trick, while Eli Anderson notched a playmaker to help the Cardinals’ winning ways.
Artz scored back-to-back goals in the first period, both off Anderson assists, one with a double helper from Carson Kuhl and the other from Carter Olson.
Kuhl then scored in the second period with a double assist from Anderson and Artz before Artz, Anderson and Kaiden Musser each scored in the third period.
Anderson scored unassisted, Artz scored with an assist from Anderson and Musser used a double helper from Brycen Lutterman and Kuhl on a power-play opportunity.
Carsen Musser made 45 saves to net the win for the Cardinals.
Fairmont Area (3-12, 1-8 Big South) goes to LeSueur to play Minnesota River at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Fairmont Area 4, Morris/Benson Area 0 — The Cardinal girls shut out the Storm to earn their second consecutive win and third in their past four games.
No individual stats were reported.
