7th grade nets two triumphs

FAIRMONT — The Fairmont Cardinals’ seventh-grade ‘B’ boys basketball team posted a 21-16 victory over the Martin County West Mavericks on Thursday in Welcome.

Caleb Chambers scored eight points to pace Fairmont’s winning ways.

The Cardinals split a doubleheader against the New Ulm Eagles during doubleheader hardwood action in Fairmont on Tuesday.

Hadan Toomer produced 19 points to guide Fairmont to a 56-13 triumph in the A-squad game.

Teammate Elijah Johnson contributed 11 points to the winning performance.

New Ulm defeated Fairmont, 39-26, in B-squad action on Tuesday.

Jacob Petrowiak and Caleb Chambers each tallied five points for the Cardinals, while Micah Vaughn, Evan Welcome and Dominick Lund-May each contributed four points on the game.

Fairmont competes in the St. James Area tournament starting at 8:30 a.m. today.
