HOLSTEIN, Iowa — Hannah Morphew paced the North Union girls cross country team’s 14th-place finish at Thursday’s Iowa Class 1A state-qualifying meet, while Nick Schiltz led the way behind the Warrior boys’ 18th-place showing.

Morphew covered the 5,000-meter course in 24:27.15 to finish 66th overall, while Hanna Sandvig netted the No. 2 spot on the Warriors with a time of 25:03.13 to collect 80th place.

Cassie Beadle claimed 89th overall in 26:00.9, Sam Nielsen took 91st in 26:10.57, while Jordyn Cummins rounded out North Union’s performance in 95th place in 26:29.63.

Courtney Sporrer (20:02.28) and Taylor Sporrer (20:07.91) garnered second and third overall, respectively, to power Logan-Magnolia to the girls team championship with a total of 39 to easily outdistance runner-up Manson Northwest Webster’s 101.

Will Roder captured first-place accolades by crossing the finish line in 16:34.22 to steer Gehlen Catholic to a 93-95 margin of victory over Tri-Center for top boys team honors.

Schiltz pocketed 61st overall by covering the 5K race in 19:27.64 to pace North Union, while Trevor Kruse netted 100th overall in 20:40.61.

Gage Madden (20:48.71) took 108th place overall, Chase Cummins posted a time of 22:48.05 to place 139th, while Shawn Odegaard rounded out the Warriors’ effort by running a 23:11.86 for 143rd overall.
