EDGERTON — The Fairmont Area Cardinals boys soccer team fought back to an even .500 record with their second consecutive 1-0 win.

The Cardinals beat Southwest Minnesota Christian in a nonconference match Thursday night in Edgerton.

Kaleb Hoye scored the game’s lone goal with 28:58 left in the opening half off an assist from Juan Santana Sanz.

The Cardinals outshot the Eagles 10-7 in the matchup.

Fairmont Area netminder Tyson Geerdes made seven saves to net the win and the shutout.

Hoye accounted for four shots on goal, while Dan Brummond totaled two.

Fairmont Area (5-5-1) plays host to Mankato Loyola at 7 p.m. Tuesday night at Kot Soccer Complex.
