Jaguars take down Bulldogs, 3-2

TRUMAN — The Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman Jaguars collared the Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton Bulldogs in a five-set Valley Conference slugfest Tuesday night in Truman.

The Jaguars outlasted the Bulldogs by respective set scores of 22-25, 25-22, 29-27, 16-25, 15-10.

Michaelah Petrowiak powered the Jaguars’ frontline performance by smacking 16 kills to complement six blocks, while teammate Emily Stauter supplied eight kills and three blocks.

Lydia Steinhaus distributed 32 set assists during the victory, while Jaguar teammate Kambria Steinhaus displayed her defensive skills by making 18 digs.

Marah Engel supplied 16 digs to the Jaguars’ winning ways, while teammate Lizzie Oothoudt continued her torrid serving string by smacking five aces.

Martin Luther/GHEC/Truman (3-5, 2-0 Valley) plays host to Cleveland at 7:15 p.m. tonight in Truman.

North Union runs at Estherville

ARMSTRONG — Nick Schiltz topped the North Union boys team, while Cassie Beadle set the pace for the Warrior girls lineup during a Top of Iowa Conference cross country meet in Estherville.

Schiltz placed 30th overall by running a 5,000-meter time of 20:43. Trevor Kruse finished second for the Warriors with a time of 21:44, good for 48th overall and Gage Madden ran a time of 22:34, placing him 52nd.

Beadle crossed the finish line with a time of 25:57 to net 35th place. Hanna Sandvig finished 43rd overall for the Warriors with a time of 27:22.

North Union runs at Emmetsburg, Iowa, at 5 p.m. Monday.

Tailgate set for Friday night

FAIRMONT — The Profinium-sponsored tailgate for Friday night’s game against the Waseca Bluejays will begin at 5:30 p.m. and run to 7 p.m.

For $5 there will be BBQ food, chips, cookies and beverages with proceeds going to the sports boosters.
