Martin Co. West spikers net 1-3 mark at Adrian Invite

ADRIAN — The Martin County West Mavericks volleyball lineup officially netted a 1-3 mark during the Adrian Invitational Saturday.

Emily Dunlop, Gabby Lange and Makena Larson equally combined for 15 kills to power the Mavericks to an opening-round victory via points, 26-24, 25-27, against Ellsworth.

Logan Kosbab contributed four kills and a team-best nine digs to Martin County West’s winning performance, while Dunlop also contributed eight digs defensively.

Setter Bella Bicknase distributed nine assists to go with four digs for the Mavericks, Taylor Elliott and Jenna Clow supplied six and five digs, respectively, while Shaylynn Anderson doled out five set assists.

Hills-Beaver Creek swept two second-round games from Martin County West, 25-15, 25-20.

Anderson served three aces and dished out three set assists, Sami Meyer cranked four kills, Bella Bicknase distributed four set assists, while Dunlop made three digs for the Mavericks.

Dunlop hammered eight kills and made five digs during Martin County West’s third-round split with Edgerton, 18-25, 25-20.

Bella Bicknase served four aces and tallied three digs, Elliott generated four kills and four digs, Clow scooped up seven opposing spikes, Logan Kosbab made six digs, while Lange recorded three blocks.

Adrian closed out the tournament by dealing a 25-17, 25-14 loss to Martin County West.

Dunlop collected four kills and two blocks, Kosbab and Maiah Schofield each supplied seven digs, Bella Bicknase doled out four set assists, Anderson tallied four digs and Grace Bicknase served up two aces.

Martin County West (1-4) plays host to Valley Conference opponent Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial on Thursday night in Trimont.
