FAIRMONT — The No. 4-seeded Fairmont Martins open the Region 13C amateur baseball best-of-3 semifinal series against the No. 1-seeded Milroy Irish at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Irish Yard.

The Martins (21-5) play host to the Irish in Game 2 at 7:30 p.m. Friday night at Herb Wolf Field in Fairmont.

If a Game 3 is necessary, Milroy hosts Fairmont in a 2 p.m. game Sunday back at Irish Yard.

Milroy receives the No. 1 draft pick from all nine eliminated teams, while Fairmont gets the third overall selection.

In the other Region 13C semifinal series, the No. 2-seeded Luverne Redbirds host the No. 6-seeded Hadley Buttermakers in Game 1 at 7:30 p.m. tonight in Luverne.

Fairmont pep fest on Aug. 21

FAIRMONT — The Fairmont fall sports pep fest will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, at Citizens Park on Downtown Plaza in Fairmont.

Fans have the opportunity to meet all of the Cardinals’ fall athletes, coaches and cheerleaders during the event.

Fall passes, football cards and Cardinal clothing will be available for purchase.

The Fairmont Booster Club will be selling concessions during the annual event.
