14U softball compiles 3-1 weekly record

FAIRMONT — The Fairmont 14U softball team compiled a 3-1 record during weekly girls fastpitch action.

Fairmont swept a doubleheader from Worthington, 14-2 and 8-6, Monday before splitting a twinbill with the Mankato Peppers on Wednesday. The Peppers took the opener, 7-3, before Fairmont bounced back to pocket Game 2 by a 10-1 decision.

Ava Gillmore tripled and scored two runs to top Fairmont’s Game 1 win over Worthington, while both Emily Muller and Ashley Muller collected two hits. Chloe Miller and Kynlie Anderson each supplied a hit.

Mandy Pytleski allowed two runs on four hits, struck out five and walked two in four innings pitched to earn the opening win.

Allison Janssen produced three hits, including a double, and Pytleski smacked an inside-the-park home run to outslug Worthington in Game 2.

Ava Terfehr, Johanna Petschke and Gillmore each chipped in one hit.

Janssen allowed six runs on four hits, struck out seven and walked four in five frames to garner the victory.

Janssen collected two hits for Fairmont in the opening game with Mankato on Wednesday, while teammates Emma Gudahl, Chantel Moeller, Ashley Muller and Emily Muller each supplied hits.

Pytleski allowed seven runs on 10 hits, struck out four and walked two in six innings pitched to take the loss for Fairmont.

Janssen doubled and singled to help power Fairmont to a 10-1 triumph over the Peppers in Game 2 of Wednesday’s doubleheader.

Terfehr contributed two hits the winning effort, while Anderson, Pytleski, Ashley Muller and Emily Muller each delivered one hit.

Janssen allowed only one run on six hits, struck out one and walked five in five frames to seal the win.

Fairmont plays host to New Ulm Red at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at Hands Park.
