No. Union tracksters to kick off state meet
DES MOINES, Iowa — Four North Union individuals and one Warrior relay team will compete in the Iowa Class 1A state track & field meet at Drake Stadium starting today in Des Moines.
North Union sprinter Brendan Anderson will step to the track for the 200-meter preliminaries at 4:40 p.m. today. Anderson will accelerate from the starting blocks in Lane 7 in Heat 2.
Elliott Hagebock will be the next Warrior to compete at state when he puts his vertical leap to the test in the high jump at 2 p.m. Friday. Hagebock is slated to jump in the seventh spot.
Hope Steinberger, Vanessa VonBank, Lily Henderson and Cassie Beadle will exchange handoffs in the distance medley relay at 2:40 p.m. Friday at Drake Stadium.
Steinberger and VonBank will run the 200-meter portions of the relay, Henderson will cover the 400-meter sprint, while Beadle will close out the final 800 meters.
Steinberger will then join North Union teammate Sam Nielsen in the high jump competition starting at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
Nielsen is scheduled to test her vertical jumping skills out of the 16th spot in the field event, while Steinberger will look to clear the bar five spots later.
