North Union golfers place 1st, 2nd at GHV triangular
GARNER, Iowa — Halle Rezac captured runner-up medalist honors to guide the North Union Warriors to a first-place team showing at Friday’s girls golf triangular at the Garner Country Club.
Rezac’s nine-hole round of 49 paced North Union’s winning team total of 223 — eight strokes better than Garner-Hayfield/Ventura and 53 shots better than Forest City.
Jordyn Cummins carded a 51 for the Warriors, Kayla Sabin fired a 58 and Hailey Arndorfer chipped in a 65 to round out the counting marks. Carys Fuller (67) and Rachel Arndorfer (72) completed NU’s effort.
GHV’s Carlee Frayne penciled in a 43 to earn meet medalist honors.
Boys Golf
North Union’s Hayden Nicoson captured meet medalist honors, but GHV edged the Warriors, 199-201, to pocket top team accolades during Friday’s triangular in Garner, Iowa.
Forest City placed third in the boys competition with a 212.
Hayden Nicoson fired a 44 to pace the Warriors, while Josh Minnman carded a 51. Carter Anderson shot a 52, while Trevor Olson chipped in a 54 to complete North Union’s counting scores. Jacob Burt and Nick Schiltz each added 55s for the Warriors.
Forest City’s Avery Busta netted a 44 to take runner-up honors, while Caden Bitek fired a 45 to pace GHV’s team triumph.
North Union plays host to Eagle Grove and West Hancock on Monday in Armstrong.
