KASSON — The Blue Earth Area Bucs wrestling lineup generated a 2-2 record during Saturday’s Swalla Duals in Kasson.

Blue Earth Area utilized five falls to fuel an opening 39-32 triumph over Caledonia/Houston, lost a 66-0 second-round decision to defending Class AA state champion and No. 1-ranked Kasson-Mantorville, dropped a 47-21 third-round decision to Forest Lake and rebounded with three falls to pace a 41-36 win over Lewiston-Altura/Rushford-Peterson.

Trailing 6-0 in their first dual meet of the invitational, Ty Peterson, Davis Sunken and Caleb Beeler reeled off three consecutive falls to steer the Bucs to an 18-6 lead.

Peterson flattened Tucker Ginther in 3:23 during 113-pound action, Sunken earned the slap of the canvas in 5:23 over Jacob Cripps at 120 pounds, while Caleb Beeler downed Eric Mauss in 4:23 during 126-pound action for Blue Earth Area.

Class A No. 10-ranked 138-pounder Jaxen Klinkner received a forfeit at weight class before Buc teammate Logan Johnson produced a fall in 3:18 over Jack Strub during 160-pound action.

Dominic Whitlow, who compiled a 3-1 record on the day like Klinkner and Bucs’ 220-pounder Erik Anderson, delivered a pivotal pin of Owen Blocker in 1:16 at 195 pounds to stake Blue Earth Area to a 36-28 lead on the team ledger.

Anderson then sealed the Bucs’ team triumph by capturing a 6-1 decision over Caledonia/Houston’s Jed Kasten during 220-pound action.

Down losing the first five consecutive matches to Forest Lake, Blue Earth Area finally broke through on the scoreboard when Klinkner needed only 56 seconds to pin Wyatt Nelson in 138-pound action.

Forest Lake reeled off four more wins in a row before Blue Earth Area 182-pounder Luke Mertens recorded a fall over Josh Schlichting in 1:47 to put the brakes on the Bucs’ skid.

Whitlow followed with a 5-4 decision over Pedro Collins during 195-pound action before Anderson received a forfeit at 220 for the Bucs.

Once again, Peterson triggered Blue Earth Area’s winning ways by receiving a forfeit at 113 before Klinkner later produced a clutch fall at 138, pinning LARP’s Kolton Riser in just 1:16.

Koby Nagel generated six more team points for the Bucs by pinning Tristyn Hegland in 2:21 at 152.

Blue Earth Area closed out the dual meet by winning three of the final four clashes, while both teams gave away forfeits at 195.

Whitlow won by forfeit at 182, Anderson pinned LARP’s Carter Weidemann in 1:52 at 220, while the Bucs’ Ian Cornelio received a forfeit at heavyweight.

Blue Earth Area travels to Lake Crystal on Friday night.
