Warriors take down Broncos

BELMOND, Iowa –The North Union Warriors baseball team took a six-inning 16-4 win over the Belmond-Klemme Broncos on Wednesday night.

The Warriors came out firing on all cylinders with five runs in the first inning.

Brenden Anderson provided the Warriors with four runs and a hit.

Blake Crawmer and Riley Bauer both went 2-for-5 hitting and recorded two RBIs. Crawmer scored twice, while Bauer scored one run in the win.

Trent Pedersen went 3-for-5, scored a run, drove in three runs and got the win on the mound. He gave up four runs on three hits, walked six and struck out three in 3 2/3 innings of work.

Brody Fritche allowed a hit with two walks and two strikeouts in 1 1/3 inning and Bauer pitched a scoreless, hitless inning while walking one.

Karter Ketchum absorbed the loss, allowing 10 runs on 12 hits and four walks while striking out one.

The Warriors’ baseball and softball games against Central Springs, scheduled for Thursday, were canceled.

North Union (9-10) heads to Granville, Iowa for the LeMars-Gehlen tournament today.
