Ceylon ready for broadband project The Ceylon City Council has been working with Federated Rural Electric Association on a project to install fiber internet to the city’s residents. This is an exciting project because it will provide the residents of Ceylon with some of the best internet access in the county. County Attorney retires from role Martin County’s long-time County Attorney, Terry Viesselman, retired at the end of June. Viesselman had been working in the county attorney’s office for the last 33 years. Thank you, Terry, for your time spent serving our county and its people. Your hard work was appreciated. Pontoon rides offered by LGF Let’s Go Fishing is in its 13th year of taking out seniors, veterans and the disabled on Fairmont’s lakes. The group is made up of about 40 volunteers all who make these trips possible and we’d like to thank them for their dedication. Relay for Life ready for 30th year Today is the annual Martin County Relay for Life, which will take place from 4 to 10 p.m. at the Martin County Fairgrounds in Fairmont. Relief money funds projects Fairmont Area Schools is working on several projects over the summer using money the district has available in the form of Elementary and Secondary Emergency Relief (ESSER) funds. Some projects include a new elementary playground, improvements to the weight room and a refurbished science classroom. These are good ways to use the funds by investing in projects that will be able to be used by students in years to come.
