Ronald “Puffy” James Dickenson was born May 6, 1936, in Dolliver, Iowa, the son of James and Eloise (Forstrom) Dickenson. Ron grew up near Dolliver where he received his education.
In 1955, Ron enlisted with the Army National Guard and received his honorable discharge in 1968. In 1969, Ron relisted and served until receiving his honorable discharge in 1983, having earned the rank of First Sergeant.
Ron was very proud of his career in the military and also worked as the custodian at the National Guard Armory in Fairmont. In his spare time, Ron enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an avid collector of lures and through the years had collected a vast assortment of antique lures. His passion for antiques included many items other than just lures and he had a knack for finding the best deals. When not busy searching for that special lure for his collection, Ron could be found tinkering on a project. Ron was a member of the Fairmont United Methodist Church and the Chain Lakes Masonic Lodge #64.
On May 19, 1959, Ron was united in marriage to Janice Rae Noble at the Ceylon Methodist Church in Ceylon, Minn. The couple resided in Fairmont all of their lives except for four years in Ellendale, Minn.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Sue (James) Olson of Fairmont, Minn.; son, Dave (Teresa) Dickenson of Lincolnton, N.C.; four step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; sister, Dorene (Joe) Conti of Franklin, N.C.; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
