Blood drives approaching in the area
CEYLON — Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Ceylon will have a communion service at 5:30 p.m. tonight. They also invite area residents to their Tuesday Bible Classes at 9 a.m. each Tuesday.
The Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon will have Build-A-Burger Night to raise funds for the Ceylon Fire Department Relief Association from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight. The cost is $12 a plate.
The Circle of Faith parishes meet at 9 a.m. on Sundays in February at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon and at 10:30 a.m. at Waverly Lutheran Church, north of Welcome. The Waverly congregation will have their annual meeting after a potluck following the service on Sunday. St. Peter’s annual meeting is scheduled for February 15. St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert will have services at 10 a.m. and their partner church St. John’s in Sherburn will have services at 8 a.m. on Sundays. Area residents are welcome to join any of these churches for their services. Lenten services will begin Feb. 18, Ash Wednesday.
Condolences to the family of Allen Diekmann, who passed away recently. Allen was a Ceylon Coop employee back in the day. He will be missed by family and friends.
American Red Cross blood drives will be on Feb. 9 at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont, Feb. 10 and 11 at the Best Western in Fairmont, Feb. 20 at the American Legion in Fairmont, Feb. 23 at the St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome and Feb. 24 at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. There is a critical need for blood now so give if you are eligible (age 16-plus, weigh 110-plus and are in good health). Each donation of blood may save three lives.
The Helping Hands of Ceylon non-profit group has taken the responsibility for the distribution of the Heaven’s Table food boxes each month. They ask that anyone wishing to get the boxes call the number by Feb. 12. The distribution will be from 9 a.m. to noon on Feb. 17 at 209 West Street in Ceylon. There are income guidelines, which will be explained when you call (507) 236-7850. Calls need to be made each month and if the pick up of your box is not possible at the designated time, call by the second Thursday and pick up on the third Tuesday each month.
