He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudy and Martha Miedtke of Fairmont, Minn. and brother Darrell and his wife Karen. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, of 66 years, son Scott and wife Linda, daughter Pamela, and grandchildren Kaitlyn and Matthew, Nicholas, Nathan and Lauren. And great-grandchildren Lincoln, London, Layla and Isaac.

Duane grew up in Fairmont, enlisted in the Navy and was a veteran of the Korean war. He was a civil engineering graduate of the University of Minnesota and as structural engineer he worked and lived in Honolulu Hawaii, St. Anthony Village, Minneapolis and finally Rochester, MN at the Mayo Clinic until his retirement. He was very personable, involved in many groups and was Mayor of St. Anthony Village in the 70s. A short service will be held, Monday, July 7, 2pm at Zumbro Lutheran church in Rochester.
