Marlo D. Baldwin

MINNETONKA — Funeral services for Marlo D. Baldwin, 92, of Minnetonka, formerly of Sherburn, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Trimont, Minn. Burial will be held following the service in Sherburn Cemetery in Sherburn, Minn. Visitation will be one hour before the time of service from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, 2024, at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Trimont, Minn.. Marlo passed away Friday, Oct. 4, 2024, near Palisade, Minn. Kramer Family Funeral Home of Sherburn, Trimont, and Welcome is assisting the family with arrangements.

Marlo Dean Baldwin was born on Nov. 20, 1931, in Elm Creek Township, rural Martin County, the son of Wilbur and Luella (Schafer) Baldwin. As a young boy, Marlo attended school in Trimont and graduated from Trimont High School. Following his graduation, Marlo attended the Dunwoody Institute of Technology in Minneapolis, where he earned his degree in Drafting.

On Feb. 28, 1959, Marlo was united in marriage to Marlene Jo Lindahl in Sherburn. Together, the couple made their home in St. Louis Park, Minn., and later moved to Minnetonka in 1967 where they lived for over 50 years and celebrated 64 years of marriage prior to Marlene’s passing in Dec. 2023. Marlo and Marlene were blessed with two children, Elizabeth and Matthew.

Marlo was co-owner of Century Design Inc. for many years, retiring in 1996. Never one to sit idle, Marlo enjoyed keeping busy and staying active. He looked forward to the change of seasons and the opportunity to be outdoors hunting grouse or working around his home and cabin. Marlo enjoyed farming, as well as operating and collecting tractors. He enjoyed visiting with friends over a cup of coffee. Marlo and Marlene were avid sports fans and enjoyed cheering on the Minnesota Vikings, Twins, and Gophers. Many Sundays were spent tailgating with dear friends and family from the Purple Bus at the old Met Stadium. Marlo treasured spending time with family in the Northwoods at the family cabin at Ruby Lake in Balsam Township. He was a member of Colonial Church in Edina, Minn., where he served his church in many various roles. One of Marlo’s prized possessions was his enormous collection of elephants from around the world. Marlo will be remembered for his positive attitude, friendly conversationalist, love of life, and uplifting personality.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Dr. Matthew Baldwin, and his wife, Mira of Lake Elmo, Minn.; son-in-law, Roger Walker of Minnetonka, Minn; grandchildren, Jonathan Baldwin of Fort Worth, Texas, and twins Daniella and Gabriella Baldwin of Pensacola, Flor. (Navy); sister, Judy Carlson; a nephew, Thomas Eckmann; as well as many other extended family and friends.

Marlo is preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Luella Baldwin; wife, Marlene Baldwin; brother, Stanley Baldwin; and sister, Shirley Baldwin accompanied by daughter, Elizabeth Baldwin. www.kramerfuneralhome.com
