Claire was born Aug. 17, 1926, in Fairmont, Minn., to Charles and Ermadee (Bixby) Neuenschwander. She graduated with honors from Fairmont High School and attended Cottey College for Women in Missouri. On June 18, 1946, Claire married Dale Manning in Fairmont.

Their first four years of marriage were spent in Pasadena, Calif., where daughter Vicki was born in 1949. They returned to living again in Fairmont, Minn., where daughter Kay was born in 1955. They later moved to Sherburn, Minn. Claire had been Continuity Director at KSUM radio station, and been active in church and school activities. In 1974, they moved to Fort Collins, Colo., where Dale had been hired by CSU. Claire worked for the City of Fort Collins

in the engineering department until her retirement 1991. While living in Sherburn, they were the host family to an exchange student, Andreas Flueckiger of Switzerland. Andy truly become part of our family. Because of Andy, Mom and Dad later ventured to Europe to see Andy and meet his family. Andy is their only child to give my

parents grandchildren. After Dale and Claire moved to Fort Collins, they befriended many foreign students attending CSU. During retirement, Mom and Dad loved to travel and took their camper trailer all over the US. Claire loved people and regarded each one as a special friend. No birthday or anniversary went by without a card and letter from her. Mom enjoyed entertaining and decorating her home to match each holiday or season. Mom loved the Lord and her weekly prayer group was dear to her for many years. She was a “prayer warrior” to many. She will be missed. Claire is survived by her two daughters, Vicki Krug (husband Bill), and Kay Wood (partner Tom Kleckner), all of Fort Collins; two nephews, Jim Neuenschwander, and David Manning, and niece, Valerie Manning, all of Fairmont. Claire is predeceased by her husband, Dale; her parents; and her only sibling, Edward Neuenschwander.
