Jean Marilyn was born June 27, 1936, in North Mankato, Minn., to Jonas and Blanche (Guernsey) Hoel. After high school she married the love of her life, Everett Wessels, on April 9, 1955. They farmed in the Blue Earth area for many years. She also worked at JC Penny and volunteered at St. Paul’s Church as well as helping raise their three children. Everett passed away August 6, 2019. Jean was always the life of the party and could light up any room with her infectious laugh, quick wit and her “tickle fingers.” She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, Disney movies, traveling and taking bus trips. Her greatest treasure was her family, spending time with grand and great-grandchildren, playing Legos on the floor or just rocking them to sleep. Jean will certainly be missed by all. Left to cherish such wonderful memories are her children, Michael of Chico, Calif., Mark (Deb) of Crosslake, and Merrilynn of Blue Earth; grandchildren, Blayne Wessels, Mercedes Wessels, Jason Myhran and Autumn Thull; five great-grandchildren, Lilix, Zep, Kaia, Luna and Charlotte; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and brothers, Richard and Dale Hoel.
