Arnold R. Wolfe
FAIRMONT — Mass of Christian Burial for Arnold R. Wolfe, 92, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont. Full military honors by Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36 and the Martin County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1222 will be held outside of the church following the service. Burial will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery, St. Peter, Minn. Visitation will be one from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont. The family asks that people are mindful of social distancing guidelines, the wearing of masks and best practices in helping to reduce the spread of COVID-19. The number of people in attendance at the service and visitation will be monitored.
Arnold passed away Thursday, March 11, 2021, at the Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Arnold R. Wolfe was born Jan. 29, 1929, in Norseland, Minn., the son of Russell and Myrtle (Hansen) Wolfe. He received his grade school education in rural country schools and graduated from St. Peter High School. In high school, Arnold boxed with the Golden Gloves for several years and was extremely successful. Following his graduation, he attended the University of Minnesota Ag School and he was soon drafted into the U.S. Army where he spent two years overseas in Trieste, Italy. Upon receiving his honorable discharge, Arnold returned home to Minnesota where he married JoAnn Staloch on June 30, 1956, in Wells, Minn. Together, the couple farmed for several years before moving to Fairmont where Arnold sold dairy and farm equipment in southern Minnesota and northern Iowa. He later delivered Winnebago motorhomes out of Forest City, Iowa to places across the United States. After his retirement, Arnold enjoyed woodworking and helping family and friends with various projects. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, JoAnn Wolfe of Fairmont; children, Michael of Rochester, Minn., Paul of Bemidji, Minn., and Cheryl of Lewisville, Minn.; grandchildren, Allen Wolfe, Adam Wolfe, and Andy Wolfe, Cathy Hinz and Jenny Miller, all of Fairmont, Ryan Douglas of Lakeville, Robby Faltersack of Turku, Finland, and Jennifer Serrano Withers of Jacksonville, Fla.; 20 great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Wolfe of Minneapolis, Minn.; sister, Jean Dobie of St. Peter, Minn.; as well as many other extended family and friends.
