MANKATO — Private family services for Kyle Mark Shumski, age 41, of Mankato, formerly of Fairmont, Minn., are being held in Fairmont. A public celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Kyle passed away Sunday, May 10, 2020, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.

Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Kyle Mark Shumski “Shaggy Dizzle” was born Feb. 26, 1979, in Fairmont, Minn., the son of Gordon “Gordy” and Sharon (Weinhold) Shumski. He attended Fairmont Public Schools and graduated from Fairmont High School in 1997. Kyle furthered in his education at Mankato State University.

Kyle worked for over 18 years as a bartender in Mankato. During his free time, he enjoyed long car rides, traveling, playing Outback Jack slot machines, watching documentaries and watching dirt track racing with his brother, Keith. Kyle most loved the time he was able to spend with his friends, whether playing PS4 or poker. His cats, Moe and Sophia, were his four-legged children and meant the world to him.

Left to cherish his memory include his sisters, Kim (Dan) Boerner, Kim (Rob) Hurlburt, and Kris (Jeff) Davids; brother, Keith (Amanda) Shumski; long-time special friend, Brandi Davidson; friends, D’Ette and Andrew Beruck; special friend, Anetté Daniels; four nephews; seven nieces; one great-nephew; two great-nieces; other relatives and friends.

Kyle was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Shumski; father, Gordon Shumski; grandparents; and four-legged children, Moe and Sophia.

Kyle’s care for others will live on through his gift of organ donation. Because of this, many people will receive the gift of life. Kyle is a true hero to his family and to the recipients of his organs.
