Filing opens today in Martin County
FAIRMONT– The filing period opens at 8 a.m. today for federal, state and county offices and it will remain open until 5 p.m. on June 2.
Those interested in running at the county level can file over the two week period at the county auditor/treasurer’s office. The filing fee for county positions is $50.
The Martin County seats up for reelection are:
County Commissioner District Two, representing the following precincts: the city of Fairmont: Ward 2, Precinct 2; and Ward 3, Precinct 1 and 2. The seat is currently held by Jaime Bleess.
County Commissioner District Four, representing the following precincts: the cities of Ceylon, Dunnell, Sherburn and Welcome; and the townships of Jay, Lake Belt, Lake Fremont, Manyaska, Rolling Green, Silver Lake and Tenhassen. The seat is currently held by Richard Koons.
County Attorney, currently held by Taylor McGowan.
County Recorder, currently held by Michelle Duncan.
County Sheriff, currently held by Jeff Markquart.
County Surveyor, currently held by Ben Madsen.
Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor- District Two, currently held by Chantill Kahler Royer. Eligible supervisors must maintain residency within the city of Fairmont.
Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor- District Four, currently held by Doug Eisenmenger. Eligible supervisors must maintain residency within the city of Ceylon, Dunnell, Sherburn, or Welcome; or the township of Jay, Lake Belt, Lake Fremont, Manyaska, or Rolling Green.
Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor- District Five, currently held by Tyler Ask. Eligible supervisors must maintain residency within the city of Ormsby or Trimont; or the township of Cedar, Elm Creek, Fox Lake, Galena, or Waverly.
The primary election will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 11.
Filings for all other offices, cities and school districts without primaries or townships with November elections, will open on July 14 and stay open until July 28.
