Gobblers mark past success, look to sustain for the future

FAIRMONT – With the South Central Minnesota Gobblers chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation approaching its 26th annual banquet, much has changed since it first started. Chairman Joe Dubke said the organization holds the banquet as its main fundraiser, showcasing what the group is all about. “We do a fundraising banquet, usually every spring in April,” he said. “Funds are used to basically promote turkey hunting, habitat restoration and youth education.” Around 100 to 120 people join or renew their membership each year, which is done at the banquet. Egg-cellent Easter activities

Project 1590’s Kids Just Want to Have Fun committee, with support from sponsors, put on its fifth annual Community Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday afternoon at Cedar Creek Park in Fairmont. Activities included an egg hunt, arts and crafts, pictures with the Easter Bunny, goody bags and more. While it was a fairly cold day, approximately 200 children came through the come and go event with their family members.

FAIRMONT – The Martin County Economic Development Authority (EDA) approved attending a broadband summit on April 29, sending a CEDA member to attend and report back.
