Fairmont Speech claims third at State, three speakers earn gold FAIRMONT/BROOKLYN PARK — Fourteen Fairmont High School Speech Team speakers competed at the Minnesota State High School League Class A State Speech Tournament on Saturday, April 25, at Park Center High School in Brooklyn Park. FAIRMONT— The city council meeting on Monday was the first for Fairmont’s new city administrator, Jason Baker. The council, in a fairly quick meeting, awarded a contract and approved a bid of $597,372 for the multiple overlay projects slated for 2026. MANKATO — Mankato authorities have identified those involved in a shooting on Sunday that left one dead and one injured. The suspect, Joseph David Bulfer, 44, of Fairmont, was apprehended at the scene by responding officers. According to a release from Mankato police, at approximately 1:36 p.m. on April 26, 911 dispatch received a call from a person who believed someone was shooting in a neighboring residence on Castle Pines Drive in Mankato.
