Hamburger Night is tonight
SHERBURN — The American Red Cross blood drives will be today, Aug. 6 at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont, Aug. 8 at the LiveFit Gym in Fairmont and Aug. 22 at the American Legion in Fairmont. Call the 800-RED-CROSS (800-733-2767) number, go online at www.redcrossblood.org or text BLOODAPP to 90999 to make an appointment or get further information about blood drives or donations. There is an urgent need for blood now so give if you can.
The CREST Lunch-N-Learn program will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today, Aug. 6 at 212 North Prairie in Sherburn. All area senior citizens are welcome to participate in the program and have a lunch after the program. The program is free but CREST appreciates a free-will donation for the lunch.
The Sherburn Legion will have Hamburger Night from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, Aug. 6 and a Bake Sale, which the proceeds will go to the Martin County West (MCW) FFA chapter. The menu includes a burger, salad and beans for only $10. What a deal. The Sherburn Legion will have Steak Fry Night from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9. Plan to attend these fundraisers.
Area residents are invited to attend the Summer Shindig from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today, Aug. 6 at the Martin County Library in Fairmont to celebrate the Summer Reading Program. There will be live music, food trucks, games, a balloon artist and more in an open house form.
The Trimont Farmers’ Market will be from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. today, Aug. 6 at the Anderson Park. Besides produce and items, there are a childrens’ activities planned.
The Sherburn Theatre will continue showing the comedy movie, “Naked Gun” at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Tuesday Coffee Hours will be held from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Tuesday in August at St. John’s Lutheran Church at 317 South Main Street in Sherburn. Join friends and neighbors for good coffee, treats and great fellowship.
St. John’s Youth Groups are selling sweet corn at the Sherburn Nursery for $6 per dozen until the harvest is over. Stop by the Sherburn Nursery and get some delicious sweet corn and help a good cause.
The Martin County West Schools Newsletter is filled with information about the upcoming 2025-2026 school year and events sponsored by the school and CER. Kinder Kamp for students enrolling in kindergarten will be from from 8 to 11 a.m. from Aug. 18 to Aug. 20. There is a Babysitting and Home Alone educational program on Aug. 21 and a Flag Football Camp will be in September. A lot of information can be found in the newsletter. The first day of school for students in grades 7 to 12 is Sept. 2 and the students in grades kindergarten to grade 6 will join them on Sept. 4.
The Martin County Fair is next week. Plan to attend Minnesota’s Other Big Fair. Good luck to the 4-H students, open class and FFA participants. Check out the entertainment events. Thanks to the Fair Board members for all the work they do to put together the fair each year.
