Welcome prepares for winter needs

WELCOME– The Welcome City Council met on Tuesday evening and discussed the fines for ordinance violations and approved the amount of $100 for the first offense. The council also discussed waiving the tort limit for liability coverage.

City employee, Max Longley, reported that the back of the snow dump truck is in need of repairs or replacement. When the truck hauls snow it bows the sides of the box. He had a bid from Crysteel for a replacement and also had an option of painting and repairing. The council will discuss this at the next meeting. Longley also reported that there is a need for snow tires on the vehicle that plows snow or there is an option for a snowplow with a three-way plow and wings. The council will discuss this at the next meeting also. Longley got a second bid on replacing the hydrant at Second Street and Kruse Street and the council asked if that could be tabled until spring. The council mentioned various repairs and and tree removals needed.

The Police Commission met before the council meeting about plans to hire a new police chief. Interviews for the four candidates is planned soon.

The next meeting of the Welcome City Council is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Nov. 1, at Welcome City Hall.

Starting at $2.99/week.
