Veterans Day Supper Thursday

SHERBURN — Sherburn Legion members and others are reminded that there is a Veterans Day Supper Thursday, Nov. 11, at the Sherburn Legion Hall. Social hour will begin at 5:30 p.m., with a ham supper set for 6:30 p.m. and the program to get underway around 7 p.m. with music provided by Bryan Kittleson and Biny Claussen. Thank you to all veterans in our area. We all know that freedom isn’t free.

Old Alley Quilt Shop will present a class of Laura Heine fabric collage at 10 a.m. Friday. To reserve a spot, call (507) 764-4088. The class size is limited.

Sherburn Theatre will feature ’Clifford, the Big Red Dog’ movie this weekend. Shows will be held 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 4 p.m. on Sunday.

MCW Swimming Pool in Sherburn is accepting registrations for fall swimming lessons. Registration forms are available at any MCW school or on the school website. For more information, please contact elizabethviesselman@mcwmavericks.org.

Mayo Mobile Clinic will be in Sherburn from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 15 and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 17 behind the city hall building. To make an appointment, call (507) 238-8500 and mention the Sherburn

Martin County West School will have a Veterans Day program on Thursday, Nov. 11 that will be streamed on their Facebook page. For the safety of the students, it will be closed to the public. Junior and Senior High vocal groups and the Junior High instrumental group will perform. Junior High students will read essays they wrote for the VFW Patriot’s Pen youth essay contest. In other MCW news, there will be a book fair in Trimont on Nov. 12. Also, parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for Nov. 16-18, and meetings for parents of 11th and 12th grade students will be held as well. There is no school on Nov. 19 for a teacher’s workshop and no school on Nov. 25 and 26 for fall break.

The MCW School Board will meet 6:15 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15. Winter sports will be begin in November, so check out the schedules on the district’s newsletter at the school website: www.martin.k12.mn.us

Condolences to the family of Bruce Behne who passed away. He will be missed.

The drive-through Ruby’s Pantry distribution will be held 5:30-7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 15, at the Regional Worship Center just south of the I-90 exit in Sherburn. The cost is now $22 for many boxes of grocery goodies. Make sure your trunk is empty. There will be a

partial list of items on their Facebook page on Nov. 13 and 14. This is open to anyone regardless of residence or income guidelines.

CREST will sponsor a ‘Lunch and Learn’ event 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, at First Lutheran Church in Trimont. This is free to anyone in Martin County.

There will be a prime rib supper sponsored by the Sherburn Lions from 5-7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, at the Sherburn Legion Club. Tickets are $25 but pre-sale tickets are $22. Tickets can be purchased from any Lions Club member, Ringnell Insurance, Amborn Lumber or Bank Midwest in Sherburn. Proceeds support the club’s community projects.

St. John’s Lutheran Church will have their fall dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, at their church. There will be a choice of sandwiches, like cheesy turkey, pulled pork, or beef brisket, with lots of salads, pies and desserts. The cost is a free will donation to help support a seminary student.

Sherburn City Council will meet Nov. 22. Please note the change of date. It will begin after the 5 p.m. public hearing about the municipal liquor.
